Alpha Xi Delta

Iota Lambda at St. Norbert College

Why Alpha Xi Delta?

Since Alpha Xi Delta’s founding in 1893, we continue to enrich the lives of women throughout the world with by emphasizing the ideals our Founders instilled in our Fraternity: Sisterhood, leadership, knowledge and service to our communities. We fully embrace these ideals and the opportunity to bring them to college women.

Realize Your Potential. Alpha Xi Delta members across the country are called to action by our vision, and you can be, too. Your Alpha Xi Delta Sisters will welcome you, support you, and encourage you to be your best in every way.

During college, Alpha Xi Delta will be your home away from home and provide you with the inspiration you need to excel. Our Sisterhood will help you explore your strengths and expand your horizons while enabling you to serve your community, learn life lessons not taught in the classroom, enjoy social events, and build genuine, life-long friendships.

After graduation, you can rely on your Alpha Xi Delta affiliation with bold and talented women to help you transition into the “real world” – start your career, start your family, and start another chapter in your life.

Alpha Xi Delta is inspiration. Find out how we will inspire you!

Letter from Iota Lambda President:

My name is Peyton, and I am a senior here in Alpha Xi Delta.

Three years ago, I was an excited but nervous freshman eager to make friends. I was in your position where you are now, unsure of Greek life due to all of the negative stereotypes surrounding sororities. I decided to go through recruitment and see what it was about. All the girls in every sorority were the sweetest women I ever met. Still, I was drawn to Alpha Xi Delta due to their genuineness, interest in conversations we were having, and philanthropy. Looking back, I recognize that joining Alpha Xi Delta has been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. It has had the most profound impact on me and my time at St. Norbert. I would not take back a single minute of the memories that Alpha Xi has brought me.

My time in this Sisterhood has truly been the best. There are so many words I can use to describe all of the overwhelming love and support I have received through these past three years. To name a few that encapsulate our Sisterhood: ambitious, determined, positive, encouraging, leadership, and inspirational; I could go on forever. Our chapter has achieved so many amazing accomplishments that I am so proud to have been a part of in the past 3 years – from getting the highest GPAs in the Greek community to winning numerous awards, including some from Alpha Xi Delta headquarters, to exceeding our philanthropy goals in many ways. Big or small accomplishments, we celebrate them all! Alpha Xi Delta takes pride in our sisters and celebrating each other's achievements. And although I am incredibly proud of these accomplishments, Alpha Xi Delta is so much more. Alpha Xi Delta is a Sisterhood that I call home. This sisterhood has built a collection of infinite moments that have shaped my college experience and pushed me to reach my full potential.

I couldn't be more thankful for the women that Alpha Xi Delta has brought me. It sounds silly and stereotypical, but they really are my best friends! I could go for months not talking to my sisters, and when we're back together again, it's like we were never apart! There is always something fun to catch up about or go do. Sisterhood has shown me the unwavering strength of friendship. Some of my best friends (and big) graduated last spring, yet they still make time to visit and support our chapter.

Opening my bid to Alpha Xi Delta three years ago meant welcoming a new beginning for my college self. I could continue my passion for service work through our philanthropy and make a difference in people's lives within the community. It granted me three-year-long terms on our chapter executive board, which has frequently pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to become a leader, but it has also brought me some of my closest friends. In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to travel to New York City to represent our chapter at the 55th National Alpha Xi Delta Convention. This was the most incredible experience; I met sisters from across the nation, shared ideas, and brought back everything I learned to our chapter.

I envy you today because you possess something I am quickly running out of: time. These little moments I take for granted as part of my daily college life are quickly coming to a close. I urge you to consider going through recruitment, even if you're unsure because you never know how much of an impact this may have on your time at SNC. I promise you that you will cherish these memories forever.  This time will provide you with opportunities for self-growth, meeting new people and opportunities, and realizing your potential. Your choice will shape who you become, and Sisterhood in Alpha Xi Delta will challenge you to become the best version of yourself.

Bid day is not a make-it-or-break-it. There is always something for you. Rather than focusing on your bid and what sorority you will potentially become a part of, focus on what will change your life a few years from now when you have a diploma ready to tackle the world. Find a Sisterhood who will be there to help you realize your potential. Cherish this moment because soon you’ll blink and find that diploma in one hand... and your Sister’s hand in the other. We hope that Alpha Xi Delta has shown you the love we have for not just who you are today but who you want to become.

Go Greek and become a part of something greater than you ever could imagine!

With love,

Peyton
